Suzanne B. (Berongis) Joseph

Suzanne Berongis Joseph was born a few minutes after midnight on New Year's Day in 1945 and passed away a few minutes before midnight on January 6, 2023.  Suzanne passed away surrounded by family and her loving husband John after her 15-year battle with cancer.

The daughter of Edward Berongis and Leonisa Razonable Berongis, Suzanne was born in Honolulu Hawaii. She moved to California then Las Vegas before settling in Hanover Massachusetts.   Suzanne worked for the Department of Defense then transferred to the Environmental Protection Agency where she worked until her retirement.  After retirement Suzanne continued her frequent trips to both Hawaii and Las Vegas where she enjoyed tournament play at the casinos.

Although her heart never left Hawaii, Suzanne adjusted to the cold of New England and would marvel at the snow but always longed for the heat of summer.  Suzanne grew into her role of aunt to her much-loved nieces and nephews, often baking birthday and holiday cakes for them.   She always enjoyed talking and listening to their stories as they grew.  She would often visit the garage to find out what they were all planning.  She was very proud of all her nieces and nephews.

Suzanne is predeceased by her parents Edward and Leonisa Berongis,  as well as her brother Francis Berongis.  She is survived by her husband John P. Joseph;  her sisters Jeanette Berongis  and  children Jason, John, Jayeda and Jarrod Michael;  Sylvia Berongis;  Arleen Berongis; and Lynette Berongis Stoeck, spouse Arlynn Paul Stoeck and children Paul Edward and Sean.  She is also survived by brother Francis' children Conan and Colin Berongis.    Suzanne has become an integral part of the Joseph family and will be missed by her brother and sister- in-laws:  Arthur and Mary Lou Joseph and children Kathleen and Amy;  Henry and Liza Joseph and children Melissa, Ryan and Thomas John.  Herbert and Shawn Joseph and children Emily Rose and Harrison;  Edward and Maria Joseph and children Austin, Nina and Spencer.

A Memorial Mass will be held on February 25, 2023 at 4 pm in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., Rockland, MA. 02370, followed by a reception at Rockland Golf Course.
