Timothy John Hunt of Norwell, age 75, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2023. Tim was the beloved husband of Janet Hunt (Williams). He is survived by his daughter Alison Hunt and her husband Josh Kuchinsky of West Roxbury; daughter Teresa McDonald of Canton; and son Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Hunt and his wife Diana of Hanscom AFB. Tim was the adoring “Poppie” to his six grandchildren - Casey, Rory, Tyler, Liam, Elise, and Evan.
He is survived by siblings Gregory of Fort Myers, FL and Mary Ellen of Scituate; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and Siamese cats Calvin and Belle. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur W. Hunt Jr. and Virginia (Galvin) of Five Islands, ME; siblings Arthur W III, Virginia (Jill), and Margaret; and his beloved dog Duke.
Originally from Dorchester, Tim moved to Cohasset in elementary school, graduating from Cohasset High School in 1965. He enlisted in the Navy and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He met Janet, the love of his life, in 1971 and they moved to Norwell in 1977.
Tim worked as a truck driver for J. Freeman, Inc. for 45 years, but his true life’s work was raising his family. He was an amazing husband and father – balancing imposing strength with gentle tenderness. Tim was an avid gardener, an incredible cribbage player, and loved going for walks in the forested conservation area behind his home.
*PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE: A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 24th at 11:00am at Cedar Grove Cemetery Chapel, 920 Adams Street, Boston, MA 02124, interment to immediately follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery on site. Following burial there will be a Mourning Meal at the American Legion in Squantum.
