Welcome to the memorial page for

Anne M Farren

February 18, 2017

Anne M Farren passed away unexpectedly on Feb 18, 2017 at the age of 81. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Family was so important to her and by all accounts she was the best mom and Grammie in the world. In recent years her body gave her a tough fight, but she fought right back, her mind always sharp and full of wit and humor. She leaves a million bright lights in our world, planted firmly in the hearts of everyone she touched.

Born in Boston and living in Dorchester until after she was married, it was a big move for a self-described “city girl” to move to Cohasset. She and husband Jim raised a family there and built a home in every sense of the word. When she and Jim moved to Marion and then Scituate later in life, the family’s true home moved to wherever they were located.

Anne is survived by Husband of 61 years James P Farren of Scituate, MA, and her six children: Kathleen Leonard and husband Lyn of Scituate, MA, Patrick Farren and wife Laura of Marion, MA; James Farren and wife Nancy of Cohasset, MA; Paul Farren and wife Demetra of Cohasset, MA; Bridget McGovern and husband Daniel of Cohasset, MA; Maureen McCracken and husband C. Reed of Waterbury, VT.

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren whom she loved fully and unconditionally: Michael and Kristen Leonard; Dan and Ashley, Laura, and Jen Farren; Amanda, Nicole, Valerie, James, and Lauren Farren; Kayla,  Alexandra, Caroline, Isabella, and Sean Farren; Ryan, Kaitlin, and Connor McGovern; and Kate and Grant McCracken. She cherished her two great grandchildren Aria and Theodore Farren.  Anne is also survived by her brother John Grayken of Cohasset, MA; in-laws who became life-long friends; many loved nieces and nephews; and cherished friends who she spoke of often.

Family and Friends will gather to celebrate Anne on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 from 3-7 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
