I recognize that I am more than six years late in posting this entry. But if the file still exists, and especially if this will be available to his survivors, I want to share thoughts that would have been more appropriate soon after his passing. I was named after Reid in 1943 and he was the closest friend of my parents (Frank G ("Denny") Denison and Ruth P Denison. I lost touch with Reid not long after my mother passed in 2008. He had been instrumental in setting up a Trust at MIT (named after my father) that was the major beneficiary of my parents' estate after my younger brother passed away in 2007. It was dedicated to providing
scholarships to members of PBE where he and my father met. He set it up so that others could use it to contribute to that cause. And many have. MIT has sent me annual reports in the last 6 years that I think may have gone to Reid while he was alive. My involvement was only being the Trustee of parents' trust that distributed the initial funding. But I think of Reid fondly when I get the MIT reports.

Hank,
Thank you for posting your note. Allie has been wonderful – always but especially in this great time of need. She tells me that you underwent surgery at MGH the day of Reid's service. I hope it went well and that you are feeling better.
With warm regards, Estelle

I was fortunate to have opportunities to talk with Reid during an Arthur D. Little, Inc., project that he organized to Shanghai, China, in the mid-1980s. It turned out that we both liked to get up early and take walks before breakfast, so we explored Shanghai together on foot. Those walks and interactions are among my lasting memories of a career at ADL. For me and many others, Reid's rock solid integrity represented the best of our company. His presence and his example made us proud to work there.

I am sorry for loss of Reid to family and friends. I am grateful for his friendship and support of Manomet (once Manomet Bird Observatory and Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences) and environmental stewardship. His leadership, commitment, personal generosity and curiosity made this world a better place.
