Gary was a close High School friend of mine and during his early years at Norwich. He was a steady influence for me as I was not the greatest of students then. His Mom and Dad were wonderful people. Gary's Mom died during the time I knew him. She was a character and also a good friend. His Dad was a rather timid driver but a great person. They came from Stockbridge Mass and Gary walked Norman Rockwell's dog for him. Gary was a kid depicted sitting on a stool getting a soda or something,in one of Rockwell's paintings. The time of the painting was age appropriate for Gary. Even though you see the backside of Gary,it is distinctive Gary, smart,an all American kid and I believe the haircut remained the same all of his life. He had a good practical head on his shoulders,a some what unique but very good humor and he loved baseball,as I had also. We simply lost touch with each other as he was a military person and I became a healthcare one. Gary helped me to gain confidence and to become a practical and a more confident person. He will be fondly remembered. A friend in time is remains a friend always,I am sorry to read that he became sick for a long time. God rest his soul,I didn't know he was a Catholic and was a member at St. Mary of the Nativity Parish,I am also a member. I am 1 year older than Gary, time passes slowly when one is young but very quickly as one ages. It is a long time since high school. My mental image of him is as a young person I guess that is good. We should have never lost touch with each other but life is a journey and for a time we walk together,we separate and go our separate ways but when that happens it is God that leads,it must be God we follow,as to God we all will want to Go,then perhaps we all meet together once again in an everlasting joy. Sincerely David Larsen
