Ralph W. Burns (formerly of Norwell, MA), 97, passed in his sleep at the Genesis Crestwood Center in Milford on Sunday, November 19; this was also his 67th wedding anniversary. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Laura A. Burns (also formerly of Norwell). He’s survived by two daughters, Kathleen Rawlins of Cambridge, MA and Patricia Glavin, wife of Mark Glavin, of Amherst, NH. Mr. Burns was a World War II veteran who proudly served with the 41st Air Depot Repair Squadron in Italy and North Africa. After the war, Ralph and Laura wed, and he found employment as an automobile mechanic until he retired in the early 1980s. An avid history buff, he was also a talented writer who penned a personal and historical account of Norwell, his home town. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and woodworking and loved sharing his skills with his grandchildren. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements have been made through McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home in Norwell, MA. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 27 at 1:15 pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
