Dear Susan,
We are so saddened to hear of Rick's passing (for me, he will always be Professor O'Connell, frozen in my mind from the time that we met when I was an undergraduate student at EAPS, awestruck by his accomplishments as a distinguished Professor). I feel very fortunate to have had the chance to get to know Rick further after college as your neighbor in Cohasset. What a kind, intelligent, curious and interesting man the world has lost. Inna and I offer you and your family our deepest sympathy and want you to know we are thinking of you in this time of loss.

we are so very sorry to read about Richard's passing. We enjoyed the time that we spent with him and will miss having him as a neighbor. Our son Arthur always spoke in glowing terms about the times he spent with him during his time at Harvard and as a grad student at MIT.
