Welcome to the memorial page for

Lynne B. (Brown) Moores

April 23, 2016

Lynne B. (Brown) Moores, age 69, of Hanover, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 23, 2016 after battling lymphoma.  Wife of Donald W. Moores and loving mother of Carrie Moores of Hanover; Todd Moores and wife Amy of Westminster, MA; Peter Moores and wife Erin of Sherborn, MA; and Samuel Moores and wife Kerri-Ann of Hanover. Sister of Sherry Kalma of Gilroy, CA, and J. Roger Brown of New Orleans, LA. Adoring Grandmother of Bryan, Justin, Andrew, Caroline, Oliver, and Amelia.

Lynne was born in Connecticut in 1946 to the late James and Caroline Brown and grew up in Virginia and New England.  She graduated from Acton-Boxborough High School and Wheelock College with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She met her husband at a church group during college; they married and moved to Hanover where they lived for over 40 years.  She found joy and took great pride in raising her four children and cherished spending time with her six grandchildren.  She was often seen cheering loudly and supporting her kids and grandkids at every conceivable type of meet, school assembly, game, music performance, and play.

Beyond family, Lynne loved nature, plants, and the outdoors.  She was a long-time volunteer at the South Shore Natural Science Center, a dedicated member and officer of the Hanover Garden Club and Hanover Historical Society, an avid walker around town, and a camping and natural park enthusiast.  A fixture at St. John's 10 am service, she also volunteered with the Needlepoint and Altar guilds there.  When indoors, she was typically reading voraciously, creating something out of yarn or fabric, and watching PBS. Indoors or out, she enjoyed talking with people and hearing how everyone was doing.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 172 Main St., Hingham, MA.  Burial will be in the St. John's Memorial Garden.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lynne's memory to the South Shore Natural Science Center at 48 Jacobs Lane, Norwell, MA 02061 or the Hanover Permanent Scholarship Fund PO Box 67, Hanover, MA 02339.
